Okay, so I didn’t actually reread The Fear Street Saga as I suggested I might while talking about Fear Street: 1994, the first in this trilogy of horror. I’m going to try again this weekend, but I make no promises. Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974)
I feel like I don’t review enough older movies on this here blog. So far this year, I’ve reviewed 6 movies that came out before the year 2000, and four of those were from the 1990’s. Sure, these more recent movies are of a different quality compared to that of older films–both in production value and content–but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some amazing old movies! And Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter is… okay, maybe not one of the greats, but it was a perfectly passable film!

PG: Psycho Goreman (2020)
Man, after being disappointed that Fear Street: 1994 wasn’t 10 out of 10 amazing, it’s nice to find something like PG: Psycho Goreman, which is absolutely my jam in just about every way possible. Horror? You’ve got a demonic alien trying to destroy the universe. Black comedy? It’s not going to make sense here, but that was the weightiest “You’re welcome,” in the history of cinema, and it was hilarious. Over the top gore? Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
One thing this blog lacks (as of writing) is an “About the Author” page. I’ve thought about it multiple times and even have a draft saved, but so far nothing has felt quite right. Early on I even considered doing a series of posts where I explain my history with the horror genre: from AOL public domain stories posted around Halloween by some guy named “Lovecraft” to The Fear Street Saga, three books that told the history of the cursed town Shadyside. Haunting Me (2007)
I want you to know that there are times when I go above and beyond for this blog. Netflix has the Oh My Ghost films, a Thailand horror/comedy series starring a group of aging kathoeys–kind of like drag queens, kind of like trans women, kind of a third gender option… Similar to “baklâ” in the Philippines, which I talked about in the ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh post. What Keeps You Alive (2018)
Happy Pride Month, everybody! June will be dedicated to movies with overly queer content or were made by queer creators (a distinction that will come up later). I’m going to start this all off by doing something different: I enjoyed What Keeps You Alive. The Tooth Fairy (2006)
As I threatened on Friday while talking about Darkness Falls, there is more than one horror movie where the villain is a witch called the Tooth Fairy. But where Darkness Falls had some effort put into it, 2006’s The Tooth Fairy is bad on just about every level. The monster is disappointing, the characters are bland, and the whole thing is a waste of time.

Darkness Falls (2003)
Given enough time, horror movies will try to make everything creepy. I’ve seen a horror trailer where the “Happy Birthday” song is sung menacingly, and I gotta say, I was not impressed. But more relevant to today’s post, Darkness Falls is about the Tooth Fairy killing people. I just… really? You thought people would be afraid of the Tooth Fairy? At least they had the good decency to come up with a somewhat creepy title, instead of being lazy and just calling this film The Tooth Fairy.

The Field Guide to Evil (2018)
I think this is the first anthology I’ve reviewed on the blog? The only other time I’ve used that tag was with The Star Wars Holiday Special, and that was mostly a “for lack of a better word” situation. The Field Guide to Evil is a horror anthology that focuses on multicultural folklore, broadening our horizons by showcasing creatures and demons from around the world. But unfortunately for this film, not every story is told as well as the others. There were some shorts I loved, and others that just left me feeling meh.

Wildling (2018)
Sometimes you watch a movie because an actor you like is in it. I don’t remember Hellraiser: Hellworld for it’s groundbreaking script, but because the prolific Mr. Lance Henriksen was in the Hellraiser sequel that took place in an video game.
