Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
With Captain America: The First Avenger, all 6 of the main Avengers have been introduced. Iron Man was introduced in Iron Man, Hulk in The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow in Iron Man 2, and both Thor and Hawkeye in Thor. All that’s missing is the star-spangled man with a plan, leading us to this flashback movie. Welcome back to MCU March! Let’s talk about the last movie leading up to The Avengers.

Thor (2011)
I gotta say, I absolutely love that MCU March lined up in such a perfect way that not only do the number of weekdays match the number of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also that the Thor post is going up on Thursday. Thor’s Day? Get it?! Ah, we have fun here at Chwineka Watches… Anyway, let’s talk about my favorite film of Marvel’s Phase One.

Iron Man 2 (2010)
With Iron Man 2, the ball is rolling on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just like the ball that is MCU March! Gotta mention the event in ever post, no matter how awkward! Marvel Studios had achieved success with Mr. Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk did decently with a Tony Stark cameo linking the movies together. The road to the The Avengers continues in this movie by adding a new recurring character and giving a new face/actor to an existing one.

The Incredible Hulk (2008)
MCU March continues with The Incredible Hulk, the reboot to the Hulk movie released 5 years earlier. Gotta say, it’s pretty gutsy to make a reboot that soon after the previous version, but this was also before Sony rebooted Spider-Man twice in a 5 year period. Superhero movies are strange beasts. But anyway, let’s begin!

Iron Man (2008)
MCU March has officially begun! Every weekday this month I’ll be talking about a different film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hence the name. This is in addition to the upcoming last episode of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s premiere two weeks later, and maybe something else. Gonna be busy, but I’m a huge comic book nerd, so really I’m in my element. With that, let’s talk about Iron Man!

Hulk (2003)
February is almost over, so now would be a good time to announce that March is going to be another event month! Every weekday I will be talking about a different movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s MCU March! I’m kicking off this endeavor with a little prologue: 2003’s Hulk movie, which is not actually a part of the MCU as it was produced by Universal Studios before Iron Man started the franchise rolling, and 2008’s The Incredible Hulk is a reboot for the character. But it’s an infamous Marvel movie I hadn’t seen, so let’s fix that!

Feast II: Sloppy Seconds (2008)
A good sequel ups the stakes of the original. If it has the same threat and energy level, then it’s more of the same and begs the question, what’s the point? Feast II: Sloppy Seconds takes the chaotic energy of Feast and absolutely raises it through more monsters, more bloodshed, and more dark comedy of questionable taste. This one has a bit more of a focus on story and characters than the previous one–although just barely–so a kill count would miss some… subtlety. Back to the regular review format, I guess!

Do you ever watch a movie and immediately forget the characters’ names? Like, the Friday the 13th reboot was about… uh… Mr. Jared Padalecki looking for… someone, and uh… okay, I remember one of the stoners was named “Chewie,” but that’s it. On Friday the world lost a legend as actor Mr. Christopher Plummer died. He was in many well loved films, ranging from his Academy Award winning performance in Beginners, to his relatively minor but vital role in Knives Out, to his iconic (on Twitter, at least) moment of ripping up a Nazi flag in The Sound of Music. Good heavens, look at the time! It’s been a while since I rolled randomly on the list of movies I’ve referenced but haven’t reviewed yet, so let’s do that again!
