Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)
Happy Halloween! Saw-mhain may be over, but I always try to have a little extra something on All Hallows’ Eve itself. And after permanently rotting by brain watching so many Saw movies, this year’s choice was pretty easy. Why not watch another movie directed by Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, and Spiral: From the Book of Saw director Mr. Darren Lynn Bousman that’s also a cult classic and has a soundtrack I still to this day listen to? I mean, it was either this or The Barrens, and I’ll get to rabies Jersey Devil some other time.

Saw V (2008)
I’ve been reading up on the Saw franchise while working through Saw-mhain, and today we have a special treat: Saw V is generally regarded as one of the worst entries in the franchise, and… yeah, I can see that. I feel like we’ve lost the plot and I don’t like Hoffman, so there wasn’t much for me in this entry. I mean, besides Ms. Julie Benz in a terrible, terrible wig. Oh hai, Darla from Buffy and Angel!

Otto; or, Up with Dead People (2008)
Once upon a time, I started a movie blog. The twist of the story is that what I created was not this Chwineka Watches, but a different, earlier blog whose name escapes me at the moment (probably also Chwineka Watches). The reviews were more longform, with posts being around 4000 words and featured several screenshots that had quirky captions because I was obviously inspired by Cracked Dot Com. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
MCU March continues with The Incredible Hulk, the reboot to the Hulk movie released 5 years earlier. Gotta say, it’s pretty gutsy to make a reboot that soon after the previous version, but this was also before Sony rebooted Spider-Man twice in a 5 year period. Superhero movies are strange beasts. But anyway, let’s begin!

Iron Man (2008)
MCU March has officially begun! Every weekday this month I’ll be talking about a different film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hence the name. This is in addition to the upcoming last episode of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s premiere two weeks later, and maybe something else. Gonna be busy, but I’m a huge comic book nerd, so really I’m in my element. With that, let’s talk about Iron Man!

Feast II: Sloppy Seconds (2008)
A good sequel ups the stakes of the original. If it has the same threat and energy level, then it’s more of the same and begs the question, what’s the point? Feast II: Sloppy Seconds takes the chaotic energy of Feast and absolutely raises it through more monsters, more bloodshed, and more dark comedy of questionable taste. This one has a bit more of a focus on story and characters than the previous one–although just barely–so a kill count would miss some… subtlety. Back to the regular review format, I guess!

The Hottie & the Nottie (2008)
When I was compiling a list of potential movies for a month full of “the worst ever,” there was only one movie that made me shudder every time I remembered it existed. Now, I use a lot of hyperbolic language on this blog, but I need you to understand something: I mean that literally. Every time I thought about Ms. Paris Hilton’s The Hottie & the Nottie, I physically shuddered. Out of ALL the movies I gathered links to, this was the one I dreaded the most. But here we are, for better or worse.

ThanksKilling (2008)
It took me nearly a year, but I actually looked at the calendar before deciding what movie to watch! In honor of [American] Thanksgiving happening tomorrow, I’m going to enjoy a lovely time with all of my family members. Just kidding! I haven’t seen my grandma since February! Instead we’re going to talk about ThanksKilling, a low budget film about a group of young adults who get killed off by a turkey. Named Turkie. It’s exactly the kind of movie you think it is.

The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008)
We’ve reached the point of Mummy Mondays where we’re talking about a sequel AND a prequel to a spin-off to what is effectively a reboot. Cue the Inception noise. This movie is… certainly something I spent almost 2 hours watching.
