The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (2009)
We’re back! Almost a decade after The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, just about everybody returns for The Lost Skeleton Returns Again. And I do mean (just about) everybody: the titular Lost Skeleton survived being thrown off a cliff but is missing his body; the dead evil scientist, Roger Fleming, is replaced by his twin brother, Peter Fleming, who is not evil; and Ranger Brad’s twin brother, Jungle Brad, steps in. They have different last names, of course.

The Endless (2017)
From an very, very outside perspective, I can kind of see the appeal of a cult. The world is especially shitty right now, and in my mind I don’t see it getting significantly better any time soon. A little too dark to start this post? Well I just recently got out of COVID-19 quarantine and then went right back to the filthy world of retail. If someone were to come to me and say that following them would make everything better… well, okay, I wouldn’t believe them because that sounds culty as fuck, but I’d be a little bit tempted.

End of the Line (2007)
What is the difference between a cult and a religion? That’s actually a serious question and relevant to this movie. I created the “cults” tag because every so often there’s a movie where cultists try to sacrifice a young girl so that their demon god can enter our world (like you do), but for this movie the “cult” is explicitly Christian. Most likely a subdivision of Christianity, as I was raised Lutheran and don’t remember the pastor passing out dagger crosses and pagers so we could be alerted when the end of the world was happening. YellowBrickRoad (2010)
This is–apparently–a very divisive movie. Looking up online ratings and reviews, it sure seems like most of the people who watched YellowBrickRoad hated it. But I don’t get that at all; I adore this movie, warts and all.

The Invisible Man (2020)
Blumhouse Productions is kind of all over the place in terms of movie quality. On one hand they produced Fantasy Island and Glass, but on the other we get actual good films like Get Out and the latest adaptation of The Invisible Man.

Color Out of Space (2019)
Finally! I missed my chance to see this in theaters, but I now own it and got to watch it with friends. I don’t feel a need to own EVERY H.P. Lovecraft-inspired movie (especially since that’s a rather broad category), but I had a fever, and the only cure was Mr. Nicolas Cage doing his thing with some eldritch abominations.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020)
There are a number of articles talking about how this is the gayest superhero movie thus far, all written by people more talented than me. But that’s not going to stop me from talking about queer representation in Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn! Or Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey as it has apparently been renamed.

Underwater (2020)
My first review of a movie that released in 2020! Expect more as time goes on! Anyway, I’m not a fan of the Twilight series (the ending of Breaking Dawn Part 2 still makes me mad). I didn’t think Snow White and the Huntsman or Panic Room were very good. But I love Ms. Kristen Stewart as a person, so I was hoping this was a movie I’d enjoy. Turns out, it was! It’s no highbrow, Criterion quality film (I’ll get to you one day, Personal Shopper), but sometimes you just want to watch a fun and tense movie.
