Arrow – Season 1, Episodes 5-6
What’s this? More Arrow episodes? I was ahead with stuff for once, so I figured I’d continue watching episodes so that it doesn’t take me fifty years to reach the seasons currently airing. Don’t expect this to be a regular thing–especially with Loki’s premiere right around the corner.

Arrow – Season 1, Episodes 2-4
Welcome back to me talking about Arrow season 1! Last time we talked about the pilot episode where we learned that Oliver Queen was shipwrecked on an island for five years, has recently come back home, and is a superhero vigilante on the downlow. With the pilot out of the way and a couple plot threads for the season already showing, the next couple episodes build up the main characters. But this is a show for the CW network, so there will be action sequences to go with over the top drama. So, pretty much like a comic book.

The Field Guide to Evil (2018)
I think this is the first anthology I’ve reviewed on the blog? The only other time I’ve used that tag was with The Star Wars Holiday Special, and that was mostly a “for lack of a better word” situation. The Field Guide to Evil is a horror anthology that focuses on multicultural folklore, broadening our horizons by showcasing creatures and demons from around the world. But unfortunately for this film, not every story is told as well as the others. There were some shorts I loved, and others that just left me feeling meh.

Ant-Man (2015)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe really tries to cover as many genres as it can, all while still sticking with a superhero aesthetic. For example, Captain America: The First Avenger is a war drama, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a political thriller, and Guardians of the Galaxy is a space comedy. So really, it’s not that big a surprise that Ant-Man would be a heist movie. And despite some behind the scenes shakeups, this is a comedy that has that that Mr. Edgar Wright humor all over it.

On Friday the world lost a legend as actor Mr. Christopher Plummer died. He was in many well loved films, ranging from his Academy Award winning performance in Beginners, to his relatively minor but vital role in Knives Out, to his iconic (on Twitter, at least) moment of ripping up a Nazi flag in The Sound of Music. The Ridiculous 6 (2015)
This was not the movie I intended to talk about today. See, in preparing for a month dedicated to the worst movies ever, I collected a bunch of links to visit later. Suicide Squad (2016)
Suicide Squad–not to be confused with The Suicide Squad, the upcoming reboot/sequel–is a victim of January’s theme of “worst movies ever” because someone on Facebook named it. Personally, I don’t think it’s even the worst of the DC Extended Universe, but nobody named Batman Vee Superman Colon Dawn of Justice or Justice League. I’ll get to those eventually, but today we talk about a movie done dirty by bad editing (although its lackluster story didn’t help).

Possessor (2020)
Sure, I could spend all of January pulling movies straight from the IMDB Bottom 100 and call it a day. Month. Whatever. But things like “bad” and “worst ever” are incredibly subjective. What you think is awful could be another person’s favorite movie.
