X-Men ’97 – Season 1, Episode 5
We’re finally here, the episode that changes it all. Let’s just jump right in–with a slightly different format–cause a lot happened.

X-Men ’97 – Season 1, Episode 3
Clones certainly have their uses, don’t they? I for one had my clone write the first draft of this post for me, but had to scrap it all when I realized it was just “why was I made” and “end my suffering” written over and over like this was The Shining or something. But not all clones are complete failures! Take Jean’s clone in “Fire Made Flesh,” the third episode of X-Men ’97. Although it is a bit of a mystery as to which Jean is the real one… I mean, unless you’ve read the comics. They also tipped their…

X-Men ’97 – Season 1, Episode 2
If I want to catch up to X-Men ’97 before the final episodes, I gotta churn out these posts. So surprise! After months of radio silence, I’m aiming to cover 5 episodes this week! Let’s gooooooo! Dialing it back a bit, the second episode, “Mutant Liberation Begins,” features an adaptation of the trial of Magneto, a real turning point in X-Men comics. So let’s see whether Magneto can really lead the X-Men.

X-Men ’97 – Season 1, Episode 1
I’m not dead! Long story short I’ve started a new job and don’t have as much free time as I used to, and to be honest I didn’t fully gel with Andor as I had hoped. I do have the next 4 episodes of that sitting in my drafts and it will see the light of day, but I just don’t currently have the passion for Star Wars like I do for, say, X-Men. And speaking of X-Men, did you know that Disney+ has a new show called X-Men ’97? It’s a continuation of the X-Men animated series from the…

Madame Web (2024)
What’s this? A non-Star Wars movie, interrupting my watching of Andor? Look, I do watch other movies; if it was all Star Wars all the time I’d probably Order 66 myself. I also managed to see Madame Web in theaters on Valentine’s Day, because why not! This is the latest entry in the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSMU) featuring Spider-Man adjacent characters. Is the SSMU a real thing or just some fan making an acronym and taking the piss? Does it really matter? The answer is no, it does not. Madame Web is not the best.

Andor – Season 1, Episodes 1-2
With Rogue One covered, it makes sense to jump straight to Andor. This is actually a weird milestone for me, as I haven’t actually seen any of the Disney+ Star Wars shows. I’ve heard good things about Obi-Wan and The Mandalorian and… not as good about The Book of Boba Fett, but I was burned out on the franchise when they debuted so I skipped them. But burnout or not, I’m tackling all these series! And I don’t feel like covering each episode one at a time like I did for most of the Marvel shows I talked about as…

Rogue One (2016)
Okay, I’m feeling refreshed and ready to get back to Star Wars content. Certainly doesn’t hurt that Rogue One–sometimes known as Rogue One; A Star Wars Story which is where the name of 2024: A Star Wars Event came from–is pretty good! It’s the Captain America: The Winter Soldier of the franchise in that it’s more of a spy thriller than the rest of the movies. I summarize it as a very 21st century movie, but lemme actually do the summary before I explain why.

Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
True story: While talking with friends about doing 2024: A Star Wars Event for my blogs, when it came up that I’d be rewatching The Rise of Skywalker almost every single person had the same response along the lines of, “Oof.” If the prequels not gelling with me didn’t destroy my old obsession with Star Wars, this film absolutely would’ve crushed it out of me. This movie is a mess, but let’s rip the Band-Aid off and finish this.

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017)
Have I really not seen this movie since it was in theaters? I feel like I may have watched The Last Jedi again since it came out seven years ago, but I’m not sure. Anyway, back in the Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back post I said that film was either my favorite or second favorite depending on my mood. The other option was The Last Jedi, and after having rewatched it for this blog, I think Empire is my favorite and this is a close second. It’s really good, but not perfect.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)
Okay, enough stalling and asides. I’ve taken what should’ve been a three week project and stretched it out into five. But no more interruptions! I’m just gonna get through all three sequel movies this week. I’m not gonna cut to The Book of Henry to talk about why Mr. Colin Trevorrow lost his Star Wars movie, or something like Brick to argue that Rian Johnson has always been good, actually (although both of those are on my Star Wars-adjacent films list). And considering I haven’t seen these movies since they were in theater, this should be… refreshing? Certainly something.
