The Dark Knight (2008)
IMDB has The Dark Knight as the #4 top rated movie on their list of… well, if we’re talking about #4, how long the rest of the list goes doesn’t really matter. This movie made a huge impact when it first came out, but does it hold up a decade later? Yes! Of course it does! This movie is amazing!

Batman Returns (1992)
Batman ’89 walked so that Batman Returns could run. For some reason this movie has a lower score than its predecessor on IMDB, and that’s just wrong; this movie is the best Batman movie. Well… the best live action Batman movie since Batman: Mask of the Phantasm still exists.

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
I’m not entirely sure why I love Jason Todd, AKA the Red Hood so much. I was too young to remember when he died and only really knew of him through the (now dated) idea, “No one stays dead in comics except Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben.” Well, at least that’s still true of Uncle Ben! I mean, discounting alternate reality versions that have popped over to the main Marvel continuity from time to time.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Let’s mix things up a bit. I’m tired of reviewing The Mummy adjacent movies (Casper Van Dien and porn will do that to a person). And some personal information, I’ve been passing the time painting miniatures while I look out the window and watch society collapse. There’s a board game called Batman: Gotham City Chronicles that has a truly ridiculous amount of plastic figures, and painting them up keeps me away from a life of crime. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001)
There are–in my mind–three kinds of film parodies. The first are soulless cash grabs. Stuff like most of the Scary Movie franchise, Date Movie, Vampires Suck… really, anything by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. The second are shameless knock-offs. Stretching the definition a bit, but these include Doctor Mordrid, Atlantic Rim, and most of the movies made by The Asylum that aren’t Syfy original movies. And the last are made by people who actually enjoyed the source material: Galaxy Quest, Young Frankenstein, and The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, a movie Movie Night adores.

Ink (2009)
It’s kind of hard to review your favorite movie. When I hate something, oh my god, I have to force myself to stop ranting about it. And with a mix of schadenfreude and impassioned writing those posts are usually pretty fun to read (I have been told). But a movie I love? It’s kinda rough to get the ball rolling…

Detention (2011)
I like describing this movie to people. I tell them about the time-travelling bear that was abducted by aliens, the Freaky Friday switch that also goes across time, a masked serial killer inspired by a lame movie starring “Moscow Hyatt,” a jock infused with fly blood, subdued Dane Cook… “Isn’t there detention in a movie called Detention?” Yeah yeah, I was getting to that.

ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh (2006)
The first time I saw a trailer for this movie, I knew I had to own it. This movie was made for me, and it was my destiny to find it. Sure, it’s not in English (well, mostly not in English), but that’s never stopped me before. Bring on subtitles! I don’t fear them!
