Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)
So I didn’t expect to cover a “tangentially related to Star Wars” movie so early, but one of my friends brought this to Movie Night and… well, it’s very clearly piggybacking off of the hot 1977 film Star Wars. What, you’ve never heard of Battle Beyond the Stars? Well I certainly hadn’t and I gotta get this post written up before it escapes my brain. At the moment it’s getting pushed out by “I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper.”

SP FX: Special Effects – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
This documentary made me sad, and I have no one to blame but myself. Not that it’s depressing or anything–it’s rather technical and really makes it seem that Mr. Mark Hamill’s narration comes straight off of a cue card. But rather this is all about the various special effects and techniques used while making Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star Wars documentary directed by Robert Guenette and written by Robert Schickel (the previous one being The Making of Star Wars). But as for why I got sad, well… I’ll get to that.

Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Okay, now we can get to what many people consider to be the best Star Wars movie. It’s definitely up there for me, taking either the first or second spot depending on my mood. It’s also the first Star Wars film to have huge plot twisting revelations and a cliffhanger ending, things that nowadays seem overdone to death. Let’s jump right in!
