I both don’t want to make this announcement and also have no choice but to. Chwineka Watches is going on indefinite hiatus.
Trust me, I’m very aware that I’ve only been able to produce ten posts across 2023, when once upon a time I was writing three to six posts a week. But I just don’t have that energy anymore. Maybe someday I will again, but at the moment I can’t even give this blog the attention it deserves. Also doesn’t help that Twitter is falling apart and that’s where a sizable chunk of my engagement comes from!
I had plans! So many plans. Hell, I’ve been sitting for a few years on “Halloween in April,” a play on “Christmas in July” where I review all the Halloween movies 6 months before Halloween. But the timing never worked out the way I wanted and especially failed to manifest this year. I left Arrow season 2 hanging after one post back in July, but I had a potential schedule worked out on how I’d cover the various shows of the Arrowverse as they started interconnecting a lot. I also had blank drafts ready for the last few MCU movies but just couldn’t find the right words. And I subjected my friends and myself to some abysmal Lovecraftian movies made for kids, but once again the words just didn’t want to manifest. And that’s been a real problem lately.
So here we are. I just don’t have it in me to keep up with this blog. I hate feeling like this, but I also just can’t snap out of it. So maybe one day I’ll come back and give this the level of dedication I believe it deserves, but unfortunately that’s not in the foreseeable future.
Thank you for sticking with me this far. Just shy of 500 reviews is not nothing! This honestly went on a lot longer than I ever thought it would, especially since I started it up right before COVID shut down everything.
I hope to see you all again one day.
